Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah In Bukhara stands on the eastern side of the Lyab-i Hauz square and forms the ensemble along with Khanaka of Nadir Divan-Begi and Kukeldash Madrasah. The decoration of Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah is similar to the style of all Muslim monuments of Central Asia. Having a puzzled layout, this building is a caravanserai which consists of warehouse and hostel for travelling caravans. On Uzbekistan Tours, the painting and images can be seen.
The main entrance leads directly to the courtyard but iwan is missing at the opposite of main entrance which is present most of the madrasas in Bukhara.
Divan-Begi MadrasahIn Bukhara was built by the order of vizier Nadir Divan-begi in the 1620s. Nadir Divan Begi was a decorated political advisor and minister, and the maternal uncle of Imam Quli Khan, the ruler of Bukhara from 1611 to 1641.
As per the history, Nadir Divan-begi has ordered to build khanaka. At the opening ceremony, Imam Quli khan said that caravanserai was built for the glory of Allah, so he advised to rebuild into the madrasah. Later, caravanserai was added. Caravanserai is the combination of warehouse and hostel for travelling caravans.
He also ordered to attach a loggia, a portal, angular towers to its main façade, and to add the second floor for hudjras.
Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah is located on Mekhtar Anbar Street in Bukhara.
The Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah is similar to the model of Sherdor in Samarkand but lions at the entrance portal were replaced with mythical birds of happiness. Khanaka is in the foprm of a multi-chambered building with the central dome hall. Hudjras were on the first floor, in lateral walls and building corners.
