Introduction About Monument Arch Of Neutrality

Locally, known as “The Tripod” with a height of 95 meters, the Monument of Arch Neutrality with its unique structure, is the best attraction in Turkmenistan Tours. It is a three legged monument which was built by the order of Saparmurat Niyazov, the president of Turkmenistan, in 1998. Initially named as the Arch of Neutrality, has gained an international status of permanent neutrality by Turkmenistan on 12^th December 1995. In the 50^th session of the UN General Assembly declared Turkmenistan a neutral state by conducting a policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states and non-involvement in any military conflict.

So, Turkmenistan began to celebrate 12 December as Day of Neutrality. By the decree of Saparmurat Niyazov, “Polimer”, the Turkish company has started the construction of the Arch of Neutrality, in 1996. In early 12^th December 1998, a ceremonial opening of the 75-m Arch of Neutrality took place in Ashgabat.

In 2010, it was decided to move the arch of neutrality moved to the southern part of the city. In the next two years, it was moved to the modern highway, Bitarap Turkmenistan Avenue and reinstalled. The Arch of Neutrality was renamed as the Monument Arch of Neutrality and the height became 95 metre.
