Built in between 8th and 9th century, in the honour of Muhammad ibn Zayd, the Shiite preacher, Mohammed ibn Zayd Mausoleum is located near to the fortress wall of Sultan Kala. Muhammad ibn Zayd known as a descendant of Islamic prophet Muhammad and also was a great Shiite teacher. His brother Hassan was the ruler of the Zyadid dynasty of Tabaristan.
Mohammed ibn Zayd Mausoleum got its place in Turkmenistan Tours because of its unique and original architectural solutions. The mausoleum was built by Sherafeddin Abu Tahir, the Governor of Khorasan.
Built in 1112, Mohammed ibn Zayd Mausoleum was known as a fallen hero of the national rebellion. A new religion, named as Islam was introduced in between 7th and 11th century. But the Arab rulers executed those who has found in the favour of Islam. Muhammad ibn Zayd, a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad family, was one of the leaders of the Islam.
Arabs were able to suppress the rebellion and executed the leader of the rebels. Arabians has thrown the head of Muhammad ibn Zayd to the local resident. After finding his beheaded body, a small mausoleum of mud brick with a dome was built.
Mohammed ibn Zayd Mausoleum can be found about 1.5 kilometres west of North West of Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum in Dashoguz of Merv oasis during Turkmenistan Tours.
Mohammed ibn Zayd Mausoleum has a single room square structure, with each side being 8.5m. There was a single brick dome on the mausoleum. After some year, another chamber added and a small mosque was built. This is the only building in merv which is surrounded by green grass and saxaul fruit trees. A number of coloured ribbons were tied to the trees near to the mausoleum.
During the Turkmenistan Tours, you will see the ruins of ancient mausoleum along with the Sultan Kala. The ruins of an ancient mud brick house can be seen to the right of the mosque. The external structure of the sardoba is covered with two domes. The brick dome is holding some original designs and there was a mihrab on the west wall. As one of the Turkmenistan and Places Of Attractions, a varieties of brick architecture in the construction of domed vaults can be seen which include highly articulated squinches and tympana decorated with herringbone and chevron-shaped elements.
After entering to the mausoleum, you can see a green coloured cloth covered grave on your left. The light into the room enters through a small gated doorway under the main arch. There is a prayer room to the right, and another grave is placed on the tiled floor and covered by a green cloth.
To visit the mausoleum of Mohammed ibn Zayd, March to early June and September to October is the best Travel Time To Visit Turkmenistan.

There is nothing as per law in Uzbek that a woman must wear, so you can bring your clothes that you love to wear. However, the country has its own culture and we believe you won’t like to offend it.
