The Polish Catholic Church is also known with additional name as The Sacred Heart Cathedral which is formally known as formally the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The church building is situated at Sadiq Asimov Street, Tashkent. The Polish Catholic Church comes under the Roman Catholic Church of Vatican City. On priest, Iustin Bonaventure’s imitative the construction of the church was started in 1912. Ludwing Panchakevicha, a well-renowned Polish architect had designed it entirely.

In comparison to all other structures in Tashkent, the Polish Catholic Church is new and it was built in the early 20th century. The decoration is carried out with the help of stained-glass windows, the arched doorway with small towers on the roof. The living room and library were named after Pope John Paul II.

In the first place, the Catholic Church was built by the soldiers who were serving in Tashkent. Later on, prisoners were also involved, among them were masons, skilled engineers and sculptors contributed their expertise in the construction of a church. Some years have passed, since the construction in 1926 the church was closed. The building was destroyed and abandoned. The Polish Catholic Church was running as both medical school and warehouse of medical technology until the year 1950 in its premises. In 1976, the authorities had ordered to restore the whole building. In 1981, the Polish Catholic Church got declared as an architectural and historical monument of Uzbekistan by the authorities.

In 1993, Sergei Adam Alexander Ponomarev, an engineer, and architect completely restored the church building under his guidance. On the first floor, the oldest room of the church is Crypt-chapel. Moving next to the second floor there is the main hall where festive and weekend Masses are held. The artist named Adamov and sculptor Ryabtsev made the figure of Christ which is placed in the altar area.

At present, sermons are held in English, Russian and Korean languages and the cathedral is opened for visitors.
